Completed my Birdwatch this morning. Not much about, just the usual suspects, blackbird, robin, chaffinch, blue tits, but did have a little wren scuttling about which I don’t see in the garden very often.

There must be plenty of food around for the birds, or perhaps they’re picky and not keen on what I offer at my bird table!

I guess I’ll have to invest in Niger seed to entice the goldfinches back, only 1 showed up today.

  2. Well, I think I picked the wrong hour, as I didn’t see half of the numbers and varieties that I normally do! Stayed true to the spirit of the survey though, and recorded: robins (2) blackbirds (3 – 2m 1f) collared doves (2) wood pigeon (1) blue tits, coal tits, great tits and numerous long-tailed tits, house and hedge sparrows, chaffiches, nuthatch (1) and a sparrowhawk ( which as far as I could tell didn’t catch anything – small birdies lived to see another day!). Also, rooks, jackdaws and magpies but it was a bit difficult to count them accurately since I was watching the small birds………

Rob says he had 11 species including a song thrush!
