SEWBReC Biodiversity Blitz Days Announced

SEWBReC (South East Wales Biodiversity Records Centre) announce details of two 2012 Biodiversity Blitz Days

The Gwent Blitz will take place on Saturday 23rd June 2012, at Tymawr Convent, Lydart. The site is a member of the Monmouthshire Meadows Group, and Gwent Wildlife Trust sympathetically manage the habitat to enhance a network of meadows, orchards and watercourses. Species include green-winged orchid, yellow rattle and quaking grass.

The Glamorgan Blitz will take place on Saturday 14th July 2012, at Cefn Pennar Urchaf Farm, Mountain Ash. A privately owned, sympathetically managed farm with an interesting complex of habitats including recovering heath, acidic grassland and marshland. Small pearl bordered fritillaries frequent the site, and the site is sure to contain many as yet un-recorded species of interest.

These events are open to anyone with an interest in ecological recording and booking is essential. Please register your interest with SEWBReC, to be sent further details of the event nearer the time.
